I'll be thinking about your friend and hoping for the safe return of those precious photos.

Prayers for a bit of grace... that maybe, somehow, the photos will return. And many warm wishes for your friend and her son. It's been a little over a year now, hasn't it? I hope they are doing okay, as well as anyone could do, and surrounded by family and friends to support them.

Heartfelt good wishes from a stranger...

Sending good vibes for a speedy return of the photos.

Oh! That is horrible! I hope she gets the photos back.

FYI, to anyone reading this and having a shock of horror about how their photos are also not secure- consider an online back up service. We use one, and it costs us on the order of $5/month. Which is not much, considering the gigabytes of data we back up. A lot of them charge based on both size of data stored and frequency of accessing it- so if you just have a ton of data but won't access it much, it can be quite reasonable.

This is a really good reminder to back up all of your photos. Even just keeping copies on two different computers is enough. But Facebook and Shutterfly are not backups - they dont' keep full resolution files. There are loads of optoins out there... It makes me sick to think about how awful it would be to lose pictures, and especially in your friend's case where that's all she has left. I hope she gets them back!

Joe D's widow's car was broken into last night. The only thing they stole was her laptop, with all her photos of him. Could you pray or vibe or offer up or whatever you do that the photos come back...

Hugs to Joe D's widow (who is also an acquaintance of mine). I hadn't realized it had been over a year since Joe D's death.

I'm so sorry.

And on a practical note, I am wondering if there are friends/family who might have undiscovered photos on their hard drive they might share. I know I have a gazillion photos of our friends' kids that I haven't gotten around to sharing, but if asked I would gladly comb through to find a few gems. Not the same thing, but maybe something.

Hugs.

Blah blah blah

  • My expertise is in helping people be who they want to be, with a specialty in how being a parent fits into everything else. I like people. I like parents. I think you're doing a fantastic job. The nitty-gritty of what you do with your kids is up to you, although I'm happy to post questions here to get data points of how you could try approaching different stages, because, let's face it, this shit is hard. As for me, I have two kids who sleep through the night and can tie their own shoes. I've been a married SAHM, a married freelance WAHM, a divorcing WOHM, a divorced WOHM, and now a WAHM again.
