It worked, and didn't damage either the abalone shell or the silver. I managed to pay attention long enough to Krazy Glue them together the right way, and am wearing the necklace right now. God bless the internets.

Oh man, once in (architecture) school I super-glued my upper lip to my nose (do not ask). Keeping the acetone on long enough to dissolve it nearly killed me. I'm glad it worked!
