How about it?
Sunday, September 7 at noon. (The weekend after Labor Day weekend.)
Central Park toward the middle of the park but closer to the west side, just below the 72nd Street Drive (Terrace Drive). There's a green space bounded by fences, and with a bowl effect (so the kids won't be able to run away before we can get to them because gravity will slow them down). Close to bathrooms, and with background music (house and disco) from the rollerbladers.
To find the spot: Walk in to the park from 72nd Street on either side. Walk toward the middle, and follow the music from the rollerbladers (they're below the bandshell). There's a big ridge to the bordering the bladers on the west--the spot is right over that ridge. It is west of the rollerbladers, the bridge, the bandshell, and the mall. It is east of a huge pile of enormous rocks and the bowling/croquet fields. It is north of Mineral Springs Cafe and the Lilac Walk. It is south of the 72nd Street transverse.

has been put in my planner! sounds awesome!!

Nothing on the calendar... will talk to ep, but I can't think why we wouldn't be in (especially with it being nice and early).

hmmm...new york for labor day weekend? tempted, but probably not going to happen. jealous. :)
Posted by: Charisse | July 28, 2008 at 06:57 PM
Will do my best! Probably can't bring the sprout - outings farther than our Hell's Kitchen nabe are still tricky at best - but I'd love to meet folks. Is it weird to go sans kid?
Posted by: alisha | July 28, 2008 at 07:23 PM
I'm going to do my very very best to make it.
I've been eager to visit the city with the nugget.

Cool! And relatively easy trip for me. How long do you think you'll be there? My kid is napping 11-1:30 or 2 these days so we probably couldn't get there before 2:30. Although she'll have a week of daycare under her belt by then so who knows what her nap situation will be.

So jealous! Wished I still lived there....

We're in the midst of selling our NYC apartment and moving south, but if we're still in town I'd love to come. I'm relatively new to Ask Moxie and would love to get to know some of you better.

I so want to be there. Will try my very hardest. (Dragging DH as well--someone has got to give chase!)
Posted by: Kate | July 28, 2008 at 11:59 PM
That's labor day weekend? Tells you where my brain is ('school starts, what more do I need to know?')
Hmm. Might be able to combine into a visit with other folks, too... hmmm.
Posted by: hedra | July 29, 2008 at 07:32 AM
oh nooooo! We might be out of town that weekend! If not, we'll be there!

Labor Day is September 1 this year - super early. So this would be following weekend.

I didn't realize so many readers were in the NYC area! I live in the burbs, but I'd love to meet some people. My son in 2.25. How old are your kids?
Posted by: lisa | July 29, 2008 at 10:46 AM
Would love to if the Monkey Mouse is awake, and you don't mind lurkers delurking for the event.
Posted by: Ab | July 29, 2008 at 11:52 AM
I'm slightly lurky here but would love to meet you. I will be around, too.
Posted by: bri | July 29, 2008 at 12:43 PM
@lisa, mine are 10 1/2, 6 1/2, and 3 1/2 year old twins. But they all like younger kids.

love, love, love this! I will be calming down from my first few days of teaching in the new school year but will do my very best to come with my 3-yr-old son. Weather permitting, we will plan to take the PATH train in from NJ and then subway transfer up to Central Park. Can't wait!

@&BabyMakes75, us, too. Maybe we'll see you on the train/subway. (SIL lives in NJ, leave car there!)

I have put it on the calendar - my 2.5 son and I will come in from Brooklyn - how great! I have been jealous of the Texas and Minnesota meet-ups ;)
Posted by: Barbara | July 30, 2008 at 01:46 PM
When are you coming to Chicago?!!!
Posted by: Shannon | July 30, 2008 at 03:19 PM
I am SO IN! Even though I barely post here, I am an avid lurker, and would LOVE to go to a meetup. I'll bring my 15month old with me...
Posted by: andrea2 | July 31, 2008 at 07:44 AM
I am trying really hard not to be as lurky, and I'd love to meet y'all.
Any suggestions for a suburbanite navigating the subway with a stroller?

Delurking - love reading this blog and would love to meet some of you, so will try to make it to the gathering!
Posted by: silene | August 01, 2008 at 01:12 PM
@Lorraine, at least in DC, it's not hard - look for the handicapped access. Or, well, just follow the other people with strollers. :) I've tended to bring a sling just in case, with babies, since some of the NYC and other 'older' transit systems are on the narrow/clunky side. Or just go with a backpack/sling as the primary carry method (oh, the pictures of me and DH with the twins asleep in the backpacks on the metro ride back from the National Building Museum in DC).

Just read about this! Used to live in Brooklyn - haven't been to the city with my 6 1/2 month old yet, but am considering making the meetup!

I am just a lurker with a 6 month old, and I'd love to stop by and meet you and everybody. What a great idea.

There is no situation in life but has its advantages and pleasures provided we will but take it as a joke when we find it.

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or
something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a little bit, but
other than that, this is great blog. A great read. I will certainly be back.
