Moxie

A cup of fair-trade coffee in the morning, and a cup of green tea in the afternoon.

5 servings of vegetables:
* huge handful of raw spinach in my morning smoothie
* free lunch day @ work: salad with tons of romaine lettuce, half an avocado, and corn and fresh tomato salsa
* meeting after work, so dinner was a Godiva chocolate bar (birthday present) AND half a pint of fresh pea pods

Asleep by 11:03, which is an hour earlier than usual.

NannyLady

i did it yesterday!
the 15 minutes on the treadmill were perhaps the longest 15 minutes of my life that didn't involve crying, but i hung in there.
but i took my vitamins, and i FLOSSED.

and let me take just a second to gripe about how much i hate flossing. i have really tight-together teeth and sensitive gums, so it's just a festival of blood and frustration. but goddamnit, i did it!
surely it will get better by the end of 60 days.
okay, done griping.

and, i got a bunch of other related stuff done too, since i was already do my challenge habits!
yay for Moxie!

Maria

1. Half a soda, not a whole one

2. Bed by 11, is progress

3. Token, nominal, practically imaginary stretching.

I'm easing into it.

kate

ate some veggies

worked out at gym

cleaned the bathroom and half of another room

michaela

Woohoo! Me, too. Let's hope we can maintain some momentum...

1. Got up from the computer and took a walk (ok, to buy a cookie, but it was still better than aimless Web surfing) when I got unproductive at work.

2. Did yoga at home! Somewhat haphazardly, but it felt good. Even laid down for a little bit of shivasana.

3. Washed face before bed.

Buffy

I drank a lot of water (not 64 oz., but lots).

I posted two entries on my baby blog (not linking to it here, it's not of interest to anyone but my mom! But it's a start).

I'm still getting over a really nasty cold (fevers for 5 days -- baby still has a fever, poor guy) so I didn't exercise. But I was so dopey from the cold that I forgot where I'd parked, and walked around campus for an extra 10 minutes. So that's something!

veggiewarrior

Okay, two out of three ain't bad...

1.) I did T-Tapp

2.) I also took my vitamins

3.) No flylady routines :(

Considering that BOTH of our car's headlights went out yesterday and I spent most of the evening trapped at the auto place with a cranky 21 month old- I feel very successful! Yeah!

Eve

Eh, my goals sort of canceled each other out. My multivitamin made me feel sick to my stomach -- I'd forgotten about that, but it always happens the first few days for me because I have the world's most sensitive stomach -- so I didn't feel up to flossing. But I did it this morning instead of last night, so I figure that counts. And yeah, the bleeding does get better if you floss regularly.

melissa

*Drank 58 oz of water, but also 16 oz of milk so i am counting it as success.
*Did Tai Chi for 25 minutes while meatloaf was cooking instead of vegging in front of the TV.
*Stayed calm and didn't yell at my husband when he was playing the guitar so loudly in the other room that I couldn't hear the TV (when I was vegging out).

SUCCESS so far.

Catharina

1. Walked to an appointment, did crunches and stretching before bed and a few crunches this morning.

2. Eating hasn't been that great, but it also hasn't been too much.

3. Managed to close my google reader a couple times and make progress on my papers. Could definitely still do a whole lot better on this, though.

Much More Than A Mom

Okay, so I sucked. It all started when I HAD to have chocolate milk with my coffee. I left the chocolate chips in the freezer but I finished the yogurt covered pretzels instead.

My only exercise was running up and down the stairs doing laundry and walking through the grocery store.

I drank my lemon water though!

Blythe

I discovered some REALLY yummy green tea today - with apple and Gingko.
http://www.messmer.de/en/produkte/produktuebersicht/index_html/5/184/509/0.html
It's good stuff, and there are a bunch of other nice flavors too. I'm not sure if it's readily available in the USA (I live in Europe) but since the website is in English, I'll bet it's sold somewhere near you.

Moxie

@Eve, have you considered switching to powdered vitamins, or even doing a few children's chewables per day instead? Or else taking some flax seed/fish oil first to kind of buffer your stomach before the vitamin (like drinking a big glass of milk before you went out drinking back in college)?

pnuts mama

eww, moxie, that totally grossed me out- the idea of loading up on dairy before a night of drinking? that would be a recipe for disaster for me! i used to carb load before a big night of drinking. because back then my metabolism could handle all that grease and beer. sigh. the good old days! i was going to suggest to eve to take her multi after dinner before bed when you have food in your stomach but are going to sleep anyway.

1. drank my milk, am buying some fish oil today.
2. told my husband about sex 2x a week and he said "you wrote that on the internet?" but was happy regardless. he said he'll do whatever he can to help me reach that goal. what a trooper.
3. did not get as much writing done as i hoped, spent too much time on political websites. today is a new day.

Shelley

Instead of dinking on computer late in the evening, I went to bed and started a Flannery O'Connor novel before turning off the lights.

Julie

Drank about 50 oz of water yesterday

Actually STUCK to the God-made eating plan with Ezekiel bread and butter for breakfast, spinach/broccoli soup for lunch (homemade so I know what went into it) and for dinner had brown rice with chicken marinated in orange juice (fresh oranges, not oj), garlic and onion.

I'm counting my spinach/broccoli soup as my veggies for the day though I know one bowl isn't really going to equal 5 servings. Today I'm planning on a big salad for lunch. I'm feeling good about this eating plan b/c it's only 2 days in a row and tomorrow I can have my pastrami sandwich that I have been craving for lunch lately and not worry about being a cheater. It's only 2 days in a row of healthy eating, then one day of eating regular food within reason. So I can totally do this.

I did 15 minutes of t-tapp last night before bed but did NOT brush. But I did brush this morning so I feel like that counts.

Yay us!

**oh, also, I forgot to mentio to the pp on the other link about the 60 day challenge that for me, T-tapp has definitely increased my libido. And it's not b/c I've lost a ton of weight and feel better about my body (see pp about my love affair with hotdogs and other processed meat products). No, it's more chemical. So it's definitely a mood enhancer like Moxie has said in the past.

Megan

Did pretty good! Had a diet coke in the morning, though, for the first time in two weeks, so I broke my "no aspartame" on the very first day. But only one. I'm pretending it never happened.

I had four vegetables (almost five!) and I went running after the baby went to bed, so I'm doing good on my other two!

Erin

Drank a ton of water -- don't know if it was 64 ounces, but it was a lot.

Did not get T-tapp in the mail yet, but did walk to and from far parking lot at work and walked to and from park with Isaac (only three blocks each way, but still)

Did not initiate sex, but I still have until Saturday, right? I DID initiate some kissing and back rubbing, so that's a step in the right direction . . .

Erin

rudyinparis

Well, I took my multivitamin. Hmmm, Erin, I was thinking I had until next Wednesday to complete my other 2 goals, but if that's not the case then both the dog and my husband have a few great days ahead of them. (I said I'd WALK THE DOG 3 times a week, people, honestly, get your minds out of the gutter.)

@Pnuts mama, I got the same reaction from DH when I told him about the sex 2x a week, too! He didn't say anything, but there was a significant pause where I think he regrouped himself. BTW, that "Business time" clip was freakin hilarious.

paola

So far so good. Have done some crunches two days in a row and boy do I hurt. Have just finished a hilariously funny take on life in Italy ( 'Cooking with Fernet Branca' by James Hamilton Paterson)and are about to start Susanna Clarke's 'Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell'. I have been doing quite well on this front since I started working. Instead of daydreaming and people watching on the train, I prefer to read and have got quite a lot read recently. I have another 5 days to initiate sex and am feeling pretty hopeful in that department as I am far less tired now that Noah has started kindy and have started to work.

Katie B.

only half my bottle of water, but a big mug of herbal tea (at least 20 oz. is my guess), so close there..

did about 5 rounds of Kegels

was going to exchange backrubs with DH, but was too tired when it came time. Did snuggle for a while tho.

Did a reading, which felt good.

paola

@Much more than a Mom,

what does the lemon water do exactly? Have been drinking it for a while as I just like the taste and it stopped me from dipping into other less wholesome drinks, but didn't know there was any other benefit (except the vitC)

Jan

For the flossing-haters: The only time I've been able to get into the flossing groove has been when I did it in the shower. There's something decadent about standing in the warm water for an extra couple of minutes, and that became my reward for flossing. (Also, the warm water in your mouth soothes your gums while they're getting used to the abuse.)

I didn't post my goals 'til this morning, so yesterday was a wash. In other words, I did NONE of my things. Ugh. Today is a new day, though.

Tara

Initiated - and got DENIED! Ugh. I guess he was as used to sleeping instead of doing it as I was. Will try again.

Did well on the other two: stayed under my WW points and drank no soda.

H-bomb

I went to yoga last night (ow), for the first time in almost two years. Ow.

Haven't been able to walk to/from work yet, but maybe tonight.

Veggies. . .almost making it. Need to pick up salad stuff after work today. . .

And, bonus ones:
No more (bad, cheap) coffee at work!
Ugh, but yes a diet soda yesterday and today. . .

alex

Okay, no sex yet but we did have some snuggling. And I was much more patient with my husband, especially when our sick baby was awake from 4-5:30 this morning!

Flossing - check
No candy at work - check

andrea

-initiate or agree to sex once a week... I was just too tired last night
-work out 3x a week - that was supposed to be today but my babysitter flaked out. anyone want to hang out with a little boy for an hour or so while I go?
-get away from the computer if im not doing anything: did good yesterday and so far today. check.

Emily

1. worked out
2. didn't eat after 8 p.m. (but oh, how I felt my tummy grumbling at 10:00!)
3. prayed and read scriptures

Yay!

meggiemoo

1. Had sex! whoo-hoo!

2. To bed by 10:30...sadly, no. Project Runway, people!

3. Up by 6:30...see #2 above.

cass

Did Instructional #1 for the first time this morning (I think I'm a day behind here - blame the time difference or something). Someone tell me it'll get easier - not in terms of the physical workout, but in terms of mastery and feeling like I'm doing it "right" or at least getting what I'm supposed to be doing. It just felt so complicated.

This conflicted with focusing more on the kids, who seemed miffed that I was doing the workout while they were up and about. But I couldn't figure out when else to squeeze it in.

Bed really late. Will try for earlier tonight.

Joceline

1. A healthy does of flax seed oil in the morning smoothie.
2.Veggies
-A handful of spinach and a large carrot in the morning smoothie
-Bulgur, cannelini, and arugula salad for lunch. Tons of greens
-Leftover roasted eggplant and zucchini with lots of homemade tomato sauce for dinner.
3. I managed to drag myself outside for a 20 minute walk even though The Boy and I are both sick. I did not buy a pastry.

Julie

@Cass....fitting it in is hard. It sounds simple b/c it's not that long, but to little kids 45 minutes is a loooooong time. I say shoot for nap time or after bed until you feel like you have the moves (mostly) mastered. Then I found out from a great t-tapp trainer that you can actually stretch the workout out over the course of the day and still reap the benefits (probably not the cardio benefit for sustained periods of time, but there is also a benefit to having shorter, more intense bursts of cardio throughout the day anyways) so what she told me to do was to make sure to do the basic workout Plus moves all together, then do the rest of the total workout in small chunks. Kids will then just think Mommy is a little weird rather than neglectful.

:)

Allison

1) I didn't do yoga or stretches or core program last night or this morning. That leaves tonight!

2) I didn't walk yesterday or so far today either.

3) I'm getting sick - my daughter has strep and I really hope I'm not getting it - so I went to bed early but didn't get up early to read. But I did write rather than check my email first thing when I did get up.

Lisa

less Internet: cleaned kitchen instead
support: made an appt, saw a friend, brainstormed about childcare
exercise: got out for a walk w/the bean, slow but I was moving, and wandered around Botanical garden w/friend.
sex: I have 13 more days for that!

other unlisted goals, bed by 10, nope, and flossing, nope, oh well!

Katy

Alas, I totally failed. No vitamins, no washing of my face, no exercise and did not get up earlier. Today is a new day though, so I'm going to start counting from now!

Claudia

Meh.

Didn't even try to think about sex.

Ate some more veggies and fruit than usual.

Didn't do T Tapp due to work and oncoming cold. Tomorrow is a new day.

Claudia

@Julie: That's very helpful about dividing up the workout. I'll give that a try.

@ Cass: I've been obsessing over the book for so long, and just decided that I'll get it right eventually. I do the exercises based on skim reading and the pictures, and I will slowly read each one thoroughly and make a cheat sheet to refer to while exercising. I figure I'll be ready for a proper boot camp in about 6 months!

bazmom

yesterday...
1. worked out for 30 minutes.
2. maintained my portion control.
3. not a single negative thought.

cybele

I missed yesterday so I'm going to write down my 3 things today and play the 59 day challenge:

1) Cut high fructose corn syrup out of my diet completely.

2) Practice mindful eating. I don't normally crave a lot of super-sweet or fatty things. But I am prone to jamming a ton of crap into my mouth when I'm stressed and/or bored, particularly at work. So the goal is to take a step back and ask myself whether I REALLY want to eat, say, that bag of slightly stale pretzels before I just toss it down. I need to be especially mindful during my hardest times of day - the mid-afternoon sugar slump, and the pre-dinner "I'm hungry but it's a little too early to eat" nosh-fest.

3) Stomach exercises at least twice a week. I work in an office 5 days a week and don't get much chance to exercise, and I love cardio, so I always opt to run whenever I can grab that 20 - 30 minutes. But keeping my core strong is important too, so I need to stop running while I've still got 5 minutes left, and do some T-tapp moves.

So far today, ate 2 Hershey's kisses while stressed out (and starving) before lunch. But I worked my abs at the gym this morning.

pnuts mama

@ erin and rudyinparis- yeah, i'm thinking we have wednesday to wednesday on the "sex whatever times a week" thing...for the record, we were also both too pooped to party last night as well. we did go to bed at the same time and snuggle, so that's a start.

@ tara- as long as the goal was initiation only, i think you're good!

Maura

Initiated.

Sorta kinda maybe studied a little.

Neither exercised nor walked the dog.

@Tara: I initiated, but then proceeded to put a long list of instructions on that initiation - "After you take the dog out, brush your teeth, turn on the bed warmer (hey, it's cold in Michigan), take off that yucky tee-shirt, etc." Makes me wonder why that man hangs around for more abuse from me....

sam

Okay, so yesterday;

(1) hubby bought me choc bar as pressie and i are it...opps (consistancy not perfection),

(2) took baby swimming, so that will have to count as my exrecise,

(3) Something nice for myself - bought some new yoga pants to replace the ones i line n die in that are falling apart at the seams.

Not a good start on the whole!!

Sarah V.

1. Avoided snacking on junk, even when hungry late in the evening - thought a moment, avoided the biscuit tin, had a banana instead.

2. Managed as much of my routine as I can reasonably do, given that it's been months and months since I did it regularly (I could have done more, but at the cost of pulled muscles).

3. I wasn't in bed till 11.50 - but everything I did after 11 was something I really needed to be doing (feeding the baby, getting the shower I really hadn't had time for earlier, and settling my son). No wasting time on the Net or flipping through trashy novels.

Yay! One day down, 59 to go...

wavybrains

1. I kept my gum intake to 3-4 pieces.
2. I did not have seconds of meals, but I did have a second cookie after both lunch and dinner instead of the 1 like the serving size indicated.
3. I vacuumed the family room.

sue

Well, 2 out of 3 isn't too bad, I guess.

I did t-tapp (with my daughter, even), and cleaned the kitchen, but we're having some serious kitty illness, and have been driving back and forth to the vet at mealtimes for the past two days. So we had happy meals for dinner yesterday and lunch today. So not on the plan, but I have to feed us something, and we're in kind of an emergency situation here. So I'm going to do the best i can, and try to do better tomorrow! The overriding goal at the moment is keeping the cat alive and getting him healthy.

gansgirl

-I struggled through day five of my T-Tapp bootcamp because I tried to fit it in after dinner/before boys' bedtime. It's really hard to concentrate on butt-tucking when a three-year-old is demanding a supplemental peanut butter sandwich, company going potty and help with his "eggergize" (he tried to exercise with me for about ten seconds). I'll stick with the after-bedtime 8-9 hour I had planned.
-I skin brushed in the shower. Has anyone else had trouble with their brush cracking due to the moisture? I don't know if mine is going to last the week...
-I collected all the random tools scattered around the house and brought them to the workroom. Now as I work through my To Do list, the tools will be where they're supposed to be!

sj

did 20 minutes of hypnobirthing practice!

complimented my son on his patience

lunch this week with a friend is impossible since I'm sick, the boy is sick, and I'm barely making it to work as it is (I am going to stay home tomorrow). But I will try to arrange something for next week!

Pamela

What a great start for everyone!
1. On my way to five fruit/veggie servings today.
2. Prayed, journaled, Bible reading done
3. Sex - haven't accomplished this one yet

Kate

I did not follow directions very well and so set goals yesterday, but didn't set out on achieving them until today. Oops! Yesterday no gym, and my others are weekly goals.

Congrats to everyone who got off to a good start!

cs white

Yay! Yesterday and today:
1. Did BWO+
2. Drank thermos-full of water (working on my second thermos today!)
3. Remembered sunscreen for my face.
