Ladre,
That's a good point. I rejected offers, too, and I don't know why. Overwhelmed, I guess, afraid to say yes. I will try to remember your phrase "gently persistent" when my next friend has a baby.

Food wasn't the best suggestion for us (though we appreciated all the kind people who brought it) because my husband does all the cooking and people seemed stymied by our vegetarianism. But anybody who would have walked our dogs, mowed our yard, or cleaned our bathrooms would have earned my undying devotion. When friends did bring food I liked it best when they brought enough so they could stay and have dinner with us. We couldn't get out as much so company was appreciated. And I agree about the hair cut suggestion... at four months we went to visit my family and they watched my baby while I went to the salon for THE WHOLE MORNING to get highlights and a haircut. It was freaking bliss.

I would always like to help out with your soohts. Just let me know and maybe I can arrange it. I don't know if I would have the patience you have, though. After watching you in action, I know for sure that it's a whole lot harder than I imagined. I might panic, or start to cry if the baby wouldn't go to sleep and. There's a lot of pressure. On second, though?/
